The two main ferry routes which are available from the Port of Kirkwall are operated by NorthLink Ferries. The company runs a route to Aberdeen in Scotland with a sailing time of six hours.

Kirkwall to Aberdeen

Northlink Ferries offers three weekly sailings between Kirkwall and the Port of Aberdeen in Scotland. It takes the ferry about six hours to reach Aberdeen from Kirkwall. The vessels which operate the route meet and exceed the most recent safety requirements and provide a high standard of comfort.

Lerwick is the capital of Shetlands and its only town, which is situated roughly at the centre of the Mainland Island of the Shetlands. Retaining much of its charm, the old fishing harbour has been largely expanded. Lerwick is a vast and active working port.
